Constitution Day of India 2021:

The constitution of India, which is also the longest written constitution of the world is one of the important factors on which the law and administration of India rely. Every year 26th  November is celebrated as Constitution Day in the country, while the day is also known as National Law Day. 

The present Constitution of India was duly adopted by the Constituent Assembly of the country on 26th November 1949, however, it was implemented on 26th January 1950. Keeping in view the interests of all sections, detailed provisions have been included in the Indian Constitution. Through various interpretations of the Supreme Court, different rights were included in it according to the changing circumstances.

Constitution Day of India History 2021:

In 2015, as the 125th birth anniversary year of Dr. Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment had notified the Central Government's decision to celebrate this day as 'Constitution Day' on 26th November every year. 

Constitution Day of India Significance 2021:

Constitution Day of India is celebrated to promote a sense of respect among the citizens for the constitutional values. The Indian Constitution is the longest written constitution in the world. Many parts of it are taken from the constitutions of the United Kingdom, America, Germany, Ireland, Australia, Canada, and Japan. The Constitution of India describes the fundamental rights, duties, role of the government, powers of the Prime Minister, President, Governor, and Chief Minister of the citizens of the country, what is the work of the legislature, executive, and judiciary, what is their role in running the country, all these things are mentioned in the constitution.

Original Constitution of India:

  • The original copy of the constitution is 16 inches wide.

  • Written on 22-inch long parchment sheets.

  • 251 pages are included in this manuscript.

Some interesting facts about the Constitution of India:

  • It took 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days to prepare the complete Constitution of India. It was completed on 26th November 1949. This Constitution of the Republic of India came into force on 26th January 1950.

  • The original copy of the Constitution was written by Prem Bihari Narayan Raizada by hand. It is written in italic letters through excellent calligraphy. Every page of it was decorated by the artists from Shantiniketan.

  • Original copies of the Constitution were written in two languages, Hindi and English. They are still kept safe in the helium-filled boxes in the Parliament of India.

  • The Constitution came into force on 26th January 1950 and India celebrates this day as Republic Day.

  • The hand-written constitution was signed by 284 members of the Constituent Assembly on 24th January 1950, including 15 women. Two days later, from 26th January this constitution came into force in the country.

  • The Constitution of India is divided into 25 parts, 448 articles, and 12 lists, the Indian Constitution is the largest written constitution in the world.

  • Originally, the Indian Constitution had a total of 395 articles (divided into 22 parts) and 8 schedules, but as a result of various amendments, at present, it has a total of 470 articles (divided into 25 parts) and 12 schedules. Six fundamental rights have been described in the third part of the constitution.
