Jagdeep Dhankhar is 14th Vice-President of India

Jagdeep Dhankhar, a candidate for the National Democratic Alliance and a former governor of West Bengal, will serve as the nation's fourteenth vice president. In the 16th Vice-Presidential election held in Parliament, he received 528 of the 710 valid votes. Margaret Alva, the leader of the opposition party and candidate, received 182 votes. According to Ms. Alva, certain Opposition parties and their leaders have harmed their own credibility by "directly or indirectly" supporting Mr. Dhankhar.

National Handloom Day 2022

Since 2015, August 7 has been designated as National Handloom Day to honour the 1905 start of the Swadeshi Movement. It is observed to pay tribute to the Indian community of handloom weavers and to recognise the sector's contribution to the socioeconomic advancement of the nation. The Swadeshi Movement was begun on August 7 in 1905, which is also the date on which the Indian government decided to observe Handloom Day in 2015. 

Akasa Air: Airlines started between Mumbai-Ahmedabad

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia inaugurated the Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight of Akasa Air. During this, MoS General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) was also present with him. The first commercial airline of Akasa airline started. Stock market veteran Rakesh Jhunjhunwala had said that he would use Boeing 737 Max aircraft for his first airline.
