International Day of Families 2022

International Families Day is celebrated at the headquarters of the United Nations and around the world on 15 May. It was officially proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993 with resolution A/RES/47/237 and the day represents how the global community connects families. This year the UN Secretary-General has decided on the “Families and Urbanization” Theme for the International Day of Families 2022. This year’s theme aims to raise awareness on the importance of sustainable, family-friendly urban policies.
 

Sri Lanka's new Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe Takes Charge

Sri Lanka's new Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed after the resignation of Mahinda Rajapaksha. He thanked India for its economic assistance to the country as it tackles the worst economic crisis since its independence. Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as 26th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka on Thursday. President has appointed a new Prime Minister to stabilise the country's debt-ridden economy as well as end the political fiasco.
 

Manik Saha appointed as new Chief Minister of Tripura

On Sunday, Manik Saha has been appointed as new Chief Minister of Tripura. He is the 11th minister of the state. He was appointed as Chief Minister after Biplab Kumar Deb resigned from the position. Saha is presently the Rajya Sabha MP from Tripura and is the president of the state's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Former Australia cricketer and two-time World Cup winner Andrew Symonds died in a car crash on Saturday night. 
 

India wins Thomas Cup title for the first time

 India recently defeated the 14-time champions Indonesia and won the Thomas Cup for the first time and created a history. Lakshya Sen defeated Anthony Ginting by 8-21, 21-17, 21-16 in a tie. India’s doubles pair Satwik and Chirag defeated Ahsan-Sukamuljo! 18-21, 23-21, 21-19. In the third game, Kidambi Srikanth defeated Jonatan Christie 21-15, 23-21 to make it 3-0.
