World Television Day 2022

On 21 November and 22 November 1996, the U.N. held the first World Television Forum. It provides a platform and allowed the media to discuss the importance of TV in delivering information and also how it participates in the changing world. It is the single largest source of video consumption. Therefore, UN General Assembly on 17 December 1996 through resolution 51/205 established 21 November as World Television Day to commemorate the date on which World Television Forum was held. 

Arun Goel Takes Charge As Election Commissioner

Arun Goel, a retired Punjab cadre IAS officer, took over as election commissioner on Monday, according to a statement from the Election Commission. In the Election Commission, he will work alongside Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey. Since May, when Sushil Chandra retired as chief election commissioner, the position of one election commissioner in the three-member commission has been vacant.

PM Modi inaugurates Kameng hydro project, 1st greenfield airport in Arunachal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the 600 MW Kameng hydropower station to the nation and inaugurated Arunachal Pradesh's first greenfield airport at Hollongi near Itanagar on Saturday. The airport, which will be located near the capital, will improve connectivity. It is also expected to boost tourism in the state, improve transportation of locally produced goods and agricultural products
