According to a government announcement, the appointment of senior IAS officer Vikram Dev Dutt as the next director general of the Directorate of General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. Dutt's appointment will be in the 'rank and pay of additional secretary to the Government of India,' and he will take the charge 'upon superannuation of Arun Kumar, IAS on 28.02.2023 by keeping the Recruitment Rules of the post in abeyance,' the release further notified.
The upcoming Republic Day parade will have 23 tableaux that will symbolise "India's vibrant cultural history, economic and social advancement," the Union Defense Ministry announced on Sunday. An experienced group reviewed the suggested tableaux before choosing them. The statement stated that roughly 15 tableaux from States/UTs are typically chosen for the Republic Day parade.
On Monday, Prime Minister Modi named 21 islands in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands after recipients of the Param Vir Chakra. In addition, PM Modi displayed a model of the projected Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose memorial that would be built in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, claiming that it will inspire people to feel patriotic. The 126th anniversary of Netaji, India's illustrious freedom fighter, was observed on Monday. In his virtual speech, Prime Minister Modi emphasised the significance of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, stating that it was on these islands that the Tricolor was first raised and the Indian government of independent India was first established.
