Defamation suit against Nawab Malik: HC says, Wilfully Breached' Undertaking

On Tuesday, 7 December, the Bombay High Court issued a notice to minister Nawab Malik. Court also directed him to file an affidavit immediately on why action should not be taken against him over his controversial statements against Narcotics Control Bureau Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede.

Wankhede's father, Dhyandev Wankhede submitted an application in which he alleged NCP leader Nawab Malik for making defamatory statements against the Wankhede family, even after getting a warning from the court, thus strict action should be taken against him. Nawab Malik has put grave accusations against Sameer Wankhede of forging his caste certificate to get a government job.

Why did Dhyandev Wankhede files a case against Nawab Malik?

On 6 December, Sameer Wankhede reached the memorial of B.R Ambedkar. While talking to the media Wankhede said that Ambedkar is an inspiration for him and he will always stand for truth and justice. To this Malik remarked that some people want to furnish their image and that’s why coming to chaitya Bhoomi of Ambedkar. Sameer Wankhede’s filed a case against Malik, calling it an act of denigration.
