The 17th edition of Mumbai international film festival or MIFF 2022 is soon to take place in the dream city of India. The Films Division of India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting hosts the country's oldest and largest non-feature film festival. The festival's purpose is to unite documentary and short film makers from all around the world, share ideas, and explore co-production and promotional possibilities for documentary, short, and animation films. The 2021 Mumbai Film Festival got canceled due to the outbreak of coronavirus Pandemic and thereby the 17th Edition of miff will take place in 2022.
Mumbai International film festival 2022 for documentary, short fiction and animation will be held from 29 May to June 4, 2022. The event will take place at the Film Division complex, Mumbai.
Films made in India or abroad between September 1, 2019 and December 31, 2021 are eligible for the international competition.
Films made in India by Indian citizens between September 1, 2019 and December 31, 2021 are eligible for the national competition.
A single film can only compete in one section, either International or National.
Any company or individual film producer/director with ownership can enter the competition. There are no limits on the amount of entries.
The last Online entry date for both National and international film submission was 15th March, 2022. The entry opened on 15 Feb. The Films were scheduled to reach the festival directorate by April 30,2022.
The best documentary at the festival will receive a Golden Conch and a cash reward of Rs. 10 lakh. The current edition of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav has developed a unique award for the best short film in honour of India's 75th anniversary. There were in total 871 enteries made from India and abroad during the 16th edition of MIFF.
