Mumbai International film festival 2022: The 17th edition of one of the biggest and oldest film festivals of documentaries, short films and animations is soon to commence in the dream city of Mumbai, India. The festival is all set to take place starting from May 29 and will continue till June 5 at Mumbai’s film division complex. Last year a total 871 national and international entries were made in the event. The entries of the festival has already wrapped it’s schedule in March and is now heading for the award and screening ceremony.

Since India is celebrating it’s 75th year of independence, ‘Azadi ka Mohatsav’ the MIFF this time took the inspiration and included this theme in the special highlight. “The finest short film on the theme 'India@75' will get a special prize at this year's MIFF.” as per the report.

The Films Division of India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting hosts the oldest and largest non-feature film festival in the region, which began in 1990. The Secretary, I & B, leads the MIFF Planning Committee, which includes notable film personalities, documentary filmmakers, and film critics. Traditionally in e very two years, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai used to host this yearly event. The majority of the festival's 15th edition screenings is now held at the Films Division Complex on Pedder Road, which now has multiple art screening facilities.

Film festivals allow filmmakers, artists, distributors, critics, and other relevant individuals to go see films, observe and meet to discuss and analyze the contemporary artistic advancements in the film industry. Interactive activities such as workshops, master classes, open forums, and B2B sessions, in addition to competitive and non-competition portions, are some of the  MIFF primary features.

Mumbai International film festival special Highlight

The festival will honour a veteran figure from the Indian non-feature film community with the prestigious V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award, which includes a monetary incentive of ten lakh rupees, a trophy, and a citation.

The festival jury consists of famous Indian and international filmmakers to judge the strongest films in both the international and national categories.

The award segment has been classified as Golden Conch, Silver Conch and the certificate of merit.
