NDA's presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu is getting congratulations from across the country. Apart from the Chief Ministers of the states, other celebrities are also congratulating her in advance. If elected, Murmu will be the first President of India to belong to the tribal community. Murmu was the first governor to complete a five-year term after the formation of the state of Jharkhand.
Shyam Charan Murmu and Draupadi Murmu had three children. They had two sons and a daughter. But the mountain of sorrow has broken on Murmu. Murmu's husband and both sons have died. At present, Murmu has a daughter in the family. Not much information is available about the death of a son and husband, but in the year 2009, the mysterious death of the second son was published in media reports.
Laxman Murmu was found on his bed in an unconscious state, after which he was rushed to a private hospital. He was later taken to a hospital in the capital Bhubaneswar, where he was declared dead.
Murmu had also announced to donate his eyes in the Run of Vision program organised by Kashyap Medical College, Ranchi. Murmu, who was associated with social work throughout her life, was also given the Neelkanth Award for Outstanding Legislator by the Odisha Legislative Assembly in the year 2007.
If Draupadi Murmu becomes the President of the country, then she will be the second person from Odisha to become the President of the country. It is to be known that before Draupadi Murmu, VV Giri from Odisha has been the President of the country.
