Russia Ukraine War: S Jaishankar meets Ukrainian PM Denys Shmyhal, tells India's stand

The war between Ukraine and Russia has been going on for a long time. Despite all the efforts, both the countries are not ready to back down, while in the meantime questions have been raised many times regarding India's stand. Amidst these questions, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal. 

During this, Jaishankar apprised him of India's stand to end all hostilities and return to the path of dialogue. Jaishankar tweeted, "Met with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal at UN Headquarters this morning.

Jaishankar’s statement

Jaishankar said he conveyed India's principled stand to end all hostilities and return to dialogue and diplomacy to Prime Minister Shmyhal. Apart from this, the two leaders discussed various issues including food security, energy security and security of nuclear stations. Jaishankar assured Shmyhal that India would continue to provide humanitarian aid. India has not yet condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine and has maintained that the crisis should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.

Shmyal tweets regarding India’s support

Shmyhal tweeted: “We count on India’s support in providing grain corridors & demilitarisation of the ZNPP. During a meeting with the External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar I emphasised the need to join forces to stop Russia’s war against Ukraine. Thanked the Indian Government and people for humanitarian aid.”
