The Skoda Slavia looks somewhat like a D-segment sedan. Classic Skoda styling gives a premium sedan look with details. The design comes as typical Skoda with newly designed hexagonal chrome grille while the bonnet has been sculpted with slim headlamps. There are LED DRLs, and not only that but the lower part of the bumper has also been nicely done for a luxurious look.
Slavia features some clever technology bits such as Kushaq sourced 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, leather upholstery, wireless phone charging, tilt & telescopic adjustment for steering wheel along with an 8-speaker sound system.
Skoda Slavia's interiors use a dual-tone color scheme, while the dashboard gets a layer of contrasting accents that remains on the AC vents. It looks expensive, it's cabin and two-spoke steering wheel with curved switchgear pointing in that direction ahead. The cabin has a large 10-inch touchscreen.
Slavia will be using the same engine & gearbox options as seen on the Kushaq SUV. A 1.0 Lt TSI, 3-cylinder petrol engine, and a 1.5 Lt TSI, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine will be offered throughout the Slavia lineup. Skoda will offer a choice of 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter automatic & 7-speed DSG gearbox options for Slavia.
Honda City has been a popular and successful product of the Honda Car India brand in the Indian market. Such has been the dominance of this car in the last 24 years that till its fourth generation model, 8 lakh units have been sold in India and now the company has launched its fifth generation model on Indian roads. The price of the new Honda City is from Rs 10 lakh 90 thousand to Rs 14 lakh 45 thousand (ex-showroom Delhi).
If you look at the inside story, here too you get to see a lot of changes and it looks quite special. Dual tone color is seen inside with a premium look and you can see light brown and black colors in it. The dashboard layout looks lovely and good material quality has been used in it, but the quality of the plastic could have been a bit better. The wood treatment gives it a very classy look.
The biggest change comes with a new touchscreen infotainment system in the cabin, which is now a segment first in the Honda City, along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with an Alexa connectivity feature. That is, now apart from checking fuel level and tire pressure through voice commands, you can lock/unlock the vehicle, switch off/on the engine & AC and open the boot and many more with your voice and remotely.
The new 5th generation Honda City gets 1.5 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engines which are BS6 compliant. Petrol manual engine generates power of 121 PS and torque of 145 Nm. A CVT transmission is also available in the petrol and will soon bring you a review of the same as well as the diesel variant.
As soon as it starts, it seems quite quiet at the initial revs and after 4,000 rpm there is a slight noise. Much better torque is available in the mid-end and it does not take much time to accelerate to 100 kmph on top end power. It gives a lot of comfort while driving on the highway and the biggest thing is that the gear shifting is quite smooth and you can walk in low speed even on high gears. Its flamboyant roof is also seen along with the downshift during overtaking.
