One of the most fascinating spots you'll visit in India is definitely this village. Kongthong, a tiny community of roughly 600 people, lies about 60 kilometres from Shillong, the state's capital. The people here really have a unique way of calling each other.

As wonderful as ecotourism and everything else in this natural environment seem, the village's distinctive tradition piqued our interest. The names of village residents are tunes. And for them it's definitely not odd, it's something that they are familiar with because and has existed for many generations. It's fascinating to see the Whistling Village in Meghalaya.

In the community of Kongthong, the mother composes a special song for the newborn. The Song of the Clan's First Woman, or Jingrwai Lawbei, is the name of this beautiful custom. The occupants also have names that are simpler for everyone.
