Weather Update Today: Most of Delhi's areas remained dry, although late on Monday night strong winds and traces of rain or drizzle were observed in southwest area of the city. Tuesday's minimum temperature spiked to 12.3 degrees Celsius, 4.7 degrees higher than Monday's minimum temperature and five degrees higher than average due to cloudy sky. The highest temperature recorded was 21.6 °C. For Wednesday, the weather service is calling for very light rain or drizzle. Though rain is unlikely on Republic Day, gloomy skies are predicted. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast said very light rain is likely on January 29.
According to the Met department, Wednesday's high and low temperatures are predicted to be about 21 and 11 degrees Celsius, respectively.
While the cold weather may provide some respite for Delhi residents, PTI reported that Delhi's air quality was rated as "extremely poor." Tuesday's air quality is expected to worsen and remain in the "extremely poor" category, according to SAFAR, an air quality monitor operated by the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
