On this yoga day let's see how to properly perform yoga and avoid mistakes in order to get maximum benefit for our mind and body. Check out below

Yoga Day 2022: Mistakes to Avoid Doing Yoga Practice

  • Not dressing appropriately: the best yoga attire for your physique and the type of yoga courses or session is of utmost importance. Wearing unsuitable clothing that is either too tight or too loose, resisting stretch, scratchy, irritating, and unable to absorb sweat can divert your attention away from your breath and make your yoga practice ineffective. It's best to dress in clothes that allow you to move freely and are made of a fabric or material that feels good against your skin.

  • Unclean yoga mat: If you are using a cheap yoga mat then while you perform various poses it can become slippery and uncomfortable, restricting you to perform asanas properly. Always take a sturdy mat for yoga which is made of good material. It must provide a proper cushioning to the joints and back to avoid body pain after you finish the yoga practice.

  • It is Not advisable to Perform Yoga Empty Stomach or Full Stomach: If you try to do yoga on an empty stomach, you will immediately regret it. It will be uncomfortable, slow you down, and even prohibit you from reaching some postures if you have a full stomach during your yoga practice. Also, it is not a healthy option to be starving while doing yoga, some fruits like apples, bananas, and pomegranates can be taken before starting the yoga.

  • If you are Begineer do not perform Advanced Poses: If you have just started doing yoga then it is advisable to begin with some simple poses like Mountain Pose, Triangle Pose, Tree Pose, Downward- Facing Dog and more. Performing difficult poses like Headstand, Crow Pose can cause pain and even injury if not done properly.

  • Don't Forget to Breathe: Many asanas are built on the foundation of deep and regular breathing. It is vital to keep an eye on the entire session from behind. Once breathing increased, the load on the body has become very high and it is necessary to interrupt the asana. Breathing and exercise helps to achieve harmony, without breathing Yoga turns into a normal physical education.

  • Skipping the warm-up and cool-down can cause you trouble: In yoga, you cannot neglect the importance of warming up. It aids in the preparation of your body for the activity. It reduces muscle stiffness and coldness while increasing blood flow. Similarly, you should not stop doing yoga without first calming down. Cooling down restores stability to areas that have become loosened, calms the body, and allows you to get the most out of your yoga practice.

Yoga Day 2022: What is the Best time to Perform Yoga?

Yoga can be performed in the morning and in the evenings, it is important to know what asanas to perform at what time.

Yoga During Morning

Mornings are usually the coolest period of the day, so it's a nice time to re-energize. If you begin your practise before 6 a.m., you will be shocked at how malleable and flexible your body becomes. The stiffer your body becomes the longer you sleep in the morning. Until it softens again in the evening. After your meditation, do asanas first thing in the morning to clear your mind and prepare your body for the day. Exercising on an empty stomach also makes all those twists and spine-bending positions simpler.

Yoga During Evening

It's important to remember that if you're practising late at night, it's best to do peaceful surrender postures and inversions like shoulder stand and plough, which can help you relax. In the evening, doing certain yoga poses can help relieve stress from the day and combat sleeplessness. It can also be used to create a nightly routine that will revitalise your mind and body, allowing you to fall asleep faster. Adding meditation to the end of your yoga practice can help you prepare your mind and body for a restful night's sleep.
